Braces or clear aligners: which is right for you?
Both can give you a straighter smile. Here is how they differ in comfort, visibility and the cases they suit.

Straight teeth are easier to clean and support a healthier bite. Today there are two main ways to get there: fixed braces and clear aligners.
Fixed braces
Braces use brackets bonded to your teeth and a wire that is adjusted over time. Because they are fixed, they work continuously, and they give the orthodontist precise control.
- Suitable for simple and complex cases
- Nothing to remember to wear
- Needs careful cleaning around brackets
- Some food restrictions
Clear aligners
Aligners are a series of clear trays, each moving your teeth a small step. You remove them to eat and brush.
- Nearly invisible
- Easy to keep clean
- Must be worn about 20 to 22 hours a day
- Best for mild to moderate cases
How to decide
The right choice depends on your bite, the movement needed and your lifestyle. If you are confident you will wear aligners consistently, and your case suits them, they are a discreet option. If your case is complex, braces often give the more predictable result.
Retainers matter for both
Teeth tend to move back after treatment. Wearing your retainer as advised protects the result you worked for.
An orthodontic consultation with records gives you a clear recommendation for your own teeth.
